This audio set contains a series of 15 guided meditations that we developed as part of an effort to help veterans of the Iraq (OIF) and Afghanistan (OEF) wars more fully engage their lives upon returning home. The meditations are based, in large part, on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and are designed to teach skills to help veterans learn to be let go of painful thoughts and feelings, show up to their lives, and reconnect with what matters to them.

The exercises are part of a larger program for OIF/OEF veterans based on the principles and practices of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  These exercises teach skills to help returning veterans to heal from the scars of war, let go of needless struggle with painful thoughts and feelings, and to more fully do what they care about as they reengage civilian life.  The exercises also teach skills to be more fully present with life now, after military service, and to more flexibly move in directions that matter to them.

We recommend starting each day with a simple centering exercise, and then working through the remaining guided meditations in sequence.  Practice the exercises in a quiet place first, and then work to apply the skills in your daily life.
